Belgian-Congolese coach Vincent Kompany hails Bayern’s Lennart Karl as a special talent
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has praised 17-year-old Lennart Karl, describing him as a player with exceptional qualities ahead of today’s clash with Mainz.
Kompany, who has Congolese heritage, emphasized the youngster’s mental and physical maturity despite his age, suggesting he can handle the pressures of top-level football.
“If you score as many goals as a 17-year-old, not everything is normal. However, everything is fine with his mental and physical development,” Kompany said.
The Belgian added that Karl possesses the right profile to succeed long-term. “He will also be able to handle the pressure well in the future. I think he has the right profile,” he noted.
Karl has already made 20 appearances this season, contributing five goals and two assists, showcasing his influence despite limited senior experience.
Kompany highlighted that the teenager’s performances go beyond statistics, noting his maturity on and off the pitch as a factor in Bayern’s planning.
The Bayern coach expressed confidence that Karl can continue his progression while managing expectations from fans and media attention surrounding his rapid rise.
Kompany also praised the club’s development structure, emphasizing how Bayern nurtures talent while maintaining high performance standards across the squad.
