Youssef Belammari, the Al Ahly defender and former Raja Casablanca player, has been named in Mohamed Ouahbi’s preliminary squad ahead of Morocco’s final preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The inclusion comes as the national team steps up its evaluation process before submitting the final squad list to FIFA on June 2.

Wahbi Expands Squad for Final Assessment Camp

Belamri is expected to join the national team’s training camp scheduled for May 22–26 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamoura.

Coach Mohamed Wahbi is using the camp to assess as many players as possible before making final decisions on the 26-man squad that will represent Morocco at the World Cup.

The Atlas Lions are continuing their structured build-up as they prepare for the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Friendly Test Against Burundi Planned

As part of preparations, Morocco are also set to play a closed-door friendly match against Burundi on May 26 at the Mohammed VI Complex.

The match will provide the coaching staff with an opportunity to evaluate player fitness, tactical balance, and squad depth ahead of the global tournament.

Belamri Returns to Action After Injury Setback

Belamri recently made his return to competitive action for Al Ahly in their Egyptian League clash against Al Masry after recovering from an adductor muscle injury.

His return to form has strengthened his chances of earning a place in the final World Cup squad.

Morocco’s Group C Challenge

At the 2026 World Cup, Morocco will compete in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.

The Atlas Lions will be aiming to advance from a competitive group as they look to build on their strong recent performances on the international stage.
