Beckaye Haidara: Senegal defender joins Zalaegerszeg from St. Polten Juniors

Senegalese centre-back Beckaye Haidara has joined Hungarian top-flight side Zalaegerszeg from St. Polten Juniors. The 19-year-old has signed a contract with the NB I club running until 30 June 2028.

Haidara, a left-footed defender standing at 1.90m, moves to Hungary after a year in Austria, where he featured for St. Poltens junior side. He arrives at Zalaegerszeg as the club continue to shape their squad ahead of the new campaign in the Hungarian first division.

Last season Haidara played 19 matches in the Austrian Landesliga Niederosterreich, scoring once and providing one assist. He also made a brief appearance in Austrias second tier, the 2. Liga, gaining his first taste of professional league football outside his home country.

Before switching to Europe, Haidara was on the books of Dial Diop SC in Senegal. He moved to St. Polten Juniors in September 2025 and has now taken a further step in his career with a move into a top-flight European league less than a year later.

Born on 17 December 2006, Haidara will be competing for a place in the heart of Zalaegerszegs defence as he begins his first spell in Hungarian football. The deal confirms his transfer from St. Polten Juniors and commits him to Zalaegerszeg until the end of the 2027-28 season.
