The latest 2013 Beach Soccer world rankings, unveiled on Thursday, brought great pride to Senegal as their national team claimed the top spot on the African continent, securing a position among the top 10 nations globally. This ranking, spanning from 2006 to 2013, encompassed thirty countries that participated in world championships during this period.
Following careful assessments of performances and results, the international governing body for Beach Soccer at FIFA determined that Senegal emerged as the leading African country, with Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and Nigeria following closely behind.
Amadou Ndiaye, affectionately known as “Chita” and the head of Senegalese Beach Soccer, expressed satisfaction with the ranking, highlighting the potential for further improvement. According to him, with increased attention and support, the Senegalese team has the capability to surpass their current ninth place in the world rankings.
While Senegal finds itself behind powerhouse nations like Brazil, Russia, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, France, and Italy, it proudly ranks ahead of numerous other countries, including Mexico, the United States, and the Hawaiian Islands.
