Bayern to decide soon on Swedish-Ghanaian striker Jonah Kusi-Asare’s first-team or loan future

Bayern Munich will soon determine whether teenage forward Jonah Kusi-Asare remains with the first team or leaves on loan for the 2025/26 season.

The decision comes after the 18-year-old impressed during pre-season, raising questions about whether his development is best served in Munich or through regular football elsewhere.

Kusi-Asare, who was born in Sweden to Ghanaian parents, joined Bayern in February 2024 from AIK. Since then, he has featured for the club’s U19 side and the amateurs but earned his first real taste of senior football during the current pre-season preparations.

The tall centre-forward seized his opportunities, finding the net against Tottenham Hotspur and Grasshopper Zurich, displaying the finishing instincts that first caught Bayern’s eye.

According to Sky reporter Kerry Hau, a final decision on his immediate future will be made in the coming days.

Bayern are weighing whether to integrate him into Thomas Tuchel’s senior squad or secure a loan move where he can enjoy consistent minutes at a competitive level.

Interest in Kusi-Asare is understood to be strong, with several clubs exploring a loan deal, though no specific names or leagues have been disclosed.

Bayern’s decision will also factor in long-term planning, as the teenager is considered a potential understudy — and eventual successor — to Harry Kane.

For now, Kusi-Asare’s next step hinges on whether Bayern believe his development will accelerate more under the daily demands of training alongside elite first-team players or through the rigours of regular competitive action elsewhere.
