Bayern Munich’s Champions League league-phase schedule confirmed

Bayern Munich will begin their 2026-27 Champions League campaign at home to Bodø/Glimt on 10 September, with the full schedule for the league phase now confirmed.

The six-time European champions, managed by Vincent Kompany, will play eight matches in total – four at Allianz Arena and four away from home. Bayern qualified for this season’s competition after winning the domestic double last campaign.

Their league-phase fixtures are:

– Bodø/Glimt – Allianz Arena, 10 September, 22:00 – Viking – Viking Stadion, 13 October, 22:00 – Arsenal – Allianz Arena, 21 October, 22:00 – Atletico Madrid – Riyadh Metropolitano, 3 November, 22:00 – Lille – Lille Metropole, 25 November, 22:00 – Slavia Prague – Fortuna Arena, 8 December 2026, 22:00 – Manchester United – Old Trafford, 20 January 2027, 22:00 – Real Betis – Allianz Arena, 27 January 2027, 22:00

The new league-phase format requires each club to face two opponents drawn from each of the four seeding pots, with the draw covering pots one to four.

Bayern will meet Manchester United at Old Trafford in January, renewing one of the Champions League’s most notable rivalries. The fixture is a repeat of the 1998-99 final, when the English side scored twice in the closing stages to claim the trophy.

Manchester United have beaten Bayern only twice in the history of their meetings. Their first victory came in that 1999 final, while the second was recorded in the quarter-finals of the 2009-10 Champions League.

Bayern have the stronger overall record, having won six of the clubs’ encounters, while five matches have ended in draws.

The German side exited last season’s Champions League in the semi-finals after losing 6-5 on aggregate to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

The dates for the league-phase fixtures are expected to be confirmed on Saturday, 29 August. The league phase itself will start on 8 September and conclude on 27 January 2027.
