Uli Hoeness, the former president of Bayern Munich, has been stripped of his place in the German Sports Hall of Fame by the Deutsche Sporthilfe (German Sports Assistance) foundation. This decision comes in the wake of Hoeness’s conviction for tax fraud, for which he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Following his conviction, Hoeness voluntarily returned the “Golden Sports Pyramid” that had been awarded to him in 2009 for his contributions to football as a player and manager. This pyramid symbolized his status as one of the most distinguished figures in German sports.
