Bayern Munich to consider Marc Guehi signing to replace Dayot Upamecano
Bayern Munich will reportedly consider signing English defender of Ivorian descent, Marc Guehi, next summer.
It is understood that the club has identified the centre-back as a possible replacement for French defender Dayot Upamecano.
The German champions remain locked in negotiations with Upamecano over a contract extension, but uncertainty surrounding his future could force the club to dip into the transfer market next summer to reinforce their backline.
According to the BILD podcast Bayern Insider, Guehi has emerged as a serious option for Bayern, particularly with the 25-year-old Crystal Palace defender expected to be available on a free transfer. His situation, however, may also depend on developments regarding Minjae Kim’s future.
Bayern are not alone in the race. Both Liverpool and Real Madrid are monitoring Guehi closely, with reports suggesting the centre-back has expressed a strong interest in a move to Madrid.
Before the summer window closed, Liverpool led the race to sign the highly-rated centre-back.
