Bayern Munich step back from Yan Diomande as Liverpool and Manchester United circle
Bayern Munich have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, deciding the 19-year-old is simply too expensive to be a backup option.
The Bundesliga champions admire his talent but are unwilling to meet Leipzig’s asking price for a player who would sit behind Luis Diaz in the pecking order.
Munich insider Christian Falk explained the club’s stance, revealing that negotiations would start at around 100 million euros, a figure Bayern are not prepared to pay. He stressed Diomande is not being overlooked for lack of quality, but because the fee is considered excessive for his expected role.
Diomande has been one of the breakout stars of the season, delivering 11 goals and 7 assists in 27 games across all competitions and terrorising defences on both wings. With Bayern stepping aside, Liverpool and Manchester United are now viewed as the leading contenders for his signature.
Liverpool see him as a long-term solution for their wide areas, while Manchester United regard him as a high-upside addition to their attack, with the player’s admiration for the Reds potentially giving them an edge.
