Bayern Munich set for windfall as Nestory Irankunda nears Sporting Lisbon move

Former Bayern Munich youngster Nestory Irankunda is closing in on a move to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, with the transfer set to provide a significant financial boost for the German champions.

The Australian attacking talent, who enjoyed an impressive season in England with Watford, is close to completing a move to Portugal in a deal that could eventually earn Bayern Munich millions thanks to a sell-on agreement.

Sporting and Watford negotiate final details

According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Sporting Lisbon and Watford are nearing an agreement for the 20-year-old Australian international.

Watford are reportedly seeking a transfer fee of €20 million, while Sporting have offered around €15 million as negotiations continue towards a final agreement.

The Lisbon club are also prepared to hand Irankunda a long-term five-year contract as they look to secure the services of one of Australia’s most promising young attacking players.

Bayern to benefit from transfer clause

Bayern Munich stand to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the deal despite Irankunda leaving the club only a year ago.

The Bundesliga giants sold the forward to Watford for €3 million but included a 50% sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Should the transfer reach the €20 million mark, Bayern could receive as much as €10 million from Irankunda’s move to Sporting Lisbon.

The deal highlights the value of Bayern’s long-term approach to player development and transfer negotiations, with the club set to profit significantly from a player who spent only a short period in their first-team setup.
