Bayern Munich are not giving up on Nico Williams, even as Barcelona edge closer to a deal.
The Spanish-Ghanaian winger has already agreed personal terms with the Catalans, who are ready to trigger his €62 million release clause. But Bayern are still in the picture, and ready to move.
Sport1 reports that Max Eberl left Bayern’s Club World Cup base to return to Munich for urgent talks with Uli Hoeness, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and other senior figures. With Nico still high on their list, Bayern want to be ready if Barcelona fail to seal the transfer.
“There are some ongoing talks, the schedule works better from Europe, and we think it is the right moment,” Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund told DAZN. On the topic of Nico, he added, “We are not commenting on rumours at the moment. We want to continue working on our plans.”
Barcelona remain hopeful. They want to pay the release clause but are pushing for a deal in instalments. Nico, too, may ask Athletic Club to ease the terms to help the move happen.
