Bayern Munich put Michael Olise at heart of long-term plans

Bayern Munich are preparing a major contract upgrade for Michael Olise as they seek to make the France winger a central figure in the club’s future and discourage interest from Real Madrid.

Olise’s current agreement with the German champions runs until 2029, but Bayern want to extend it and make him the highest-paid player in the squad, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

The proposal underlines the club’s confidence in the 24-year-old and its determination to build its next phase around him. Bayern are prepared to commit significant financial resources to keep Olise at the Allianz Arena for the long term.

Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 and has since emerged as one of the team’s most important performers. His form has strengthened his position within the squad and increased the importance of securing his future.

Although Olise had dreamed of moving to Real Madrid, he is expected to remain in Germany for at least another season. Bayern’s intention is to persuade him that his career can continue to develop at the club, rather than allowing him to pursue a move to Spain.

L’Equipe reports that Olise has found the right environment at Bayern to improve his game. The winger is also understood to have a strong relationship with manager Vincent Kompany, who has helped him make a significant step forward in his development.

Should the two sides reach an agreement over a new contract, Bayern would probably seek to include a release clause. No such clause was included in the original deal that brought Olise to the club from Crystal Palace.

The proposed renewal would also place Olise at the top of Bayern’s wage structure. As of April 2026, Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala were the club’s highest earners, with both players receiving about €2.1m per month.

Bayern’s willingness to offer Olise a salary above that level reflects the status he has gained since his arrival. The club sees him not simply as a successful recent signing, but as one of the main pillars of its project for the coming years.

The move would also provide Bayern with greater protection against outside interest. While Olise’s existing contract gives the club control of his future until 2029, a new agreement featuring improved financial terms and a possible release clause could offer a clearer framework for both the player and the club.

For now, Olise is set to continue in Bavaria, with Bayern working to secure a longer-term commitment from a player they believe can become one of the defining members of their team.
