Bayern Munich pushing to seal contract extension deal with Dayot Upamecano
German outfit Bayern Munich continue to engage French defender of Guinean-Bissau descent Dayot Upamecano over a new contract.
Upamecano’s current deal with the Bavarian club expires in the summer of 2026, and while Bayern are keen to extend his stay, an agreement has not yet been finalised.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the two parties were close to completion between late March and early April, but certain details remain unresolved.
Romano reports that Bayern are determined to finalise the extension as head coach Vincent Kompany is a strong admirer of the defender. The club’s financial proposal is already on the table, though final terms are still being discussed.
Meanwhile, several clubs from England, Spain, and Italy are reportedly monitoring Upamecano’s situation, with hopes of securing him on a free transfer should he decide not to renew his contract next summer.
Other reports suggest the 26-year-old is seeking a pay rise and a significant signing-on bonus, and it remains unclear whether Bayern will meet his demands.
Negotiations could continue until the final months of the player’s contract.
