Bayern Munich president shares admiration for Achraf Hakimi

Honorary president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, has openly declared his admiration for Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, revealing he would sign the full-back “immediately” if given the opportunity.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of Bayern’s decisive clash with Paris Saint-Germain, Hoeness was asked to name one player from the French side he would bring to Munich. His response was swift and unequivocal.

“Achraf Hakimi, I would sign him immediately because he would fit our team perfectly.”

The strong endorsement highlights Hakimi’s growing reputation across Europe, particularly following his standout performance in the thrilling first leg between the two sides. The encounter, which ended in a dramatic 5-4 victory for PSG at the Parc des Princes, has already been hailed as one of the most exciting matches in UEFA Champions League history.

Despite Bayern’s defeat in Paris, Hoeness expressed admiration for the spectacle, describing the match as a showcase of attacking football at its finest.

“As a Bayern fan, I wonder, after all the goals we’ve conceded, will we really win?” he said, reflecting both concern and appreciation.

“But as a neutral fan, I see it as a real advertisement for football. Two attacking teams, and 9 goals in the semi-finals, we’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Attention now turns to the second leg at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern face a daunting challenge. The German side must overturn the deficit with at least a two-goal victory to secure a place in the final.

While the task is steep, the Bavarian giants will draw confidence from playing in front of their home supporters, setting the stage for another potentially unforgettable European night.
