German outfit Bayern Munich want to do everything to secure the long-term future of defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Frenchman, who has Guinean-Bissau roots, is under contract with Bayern until the summer of 2026.

While the 26-year-old is keen to remain in Munich and enjoys the full trust of the coaching staff, negotiations are expected to be challenging due to his wage demands and the level of outside interest.

According to Bild, Premier League side Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit, while Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also monitoring the situation closely.

For Bayern, extending Upamecano’s deal remains a priority, but the club must operate within the supervisory board’s financial framework, which aims to reduce salary costs.

The defender’s position at the negotiating table is strengthened by the fact that some of his teammates received lucrative signing-on bonuses when they renewed their deals.

Reports claim Alphonso Davies received an estimated €17 million when he committed his future until 2030, a benchmark Upamecano’s representatives are likely to reference in talks.

Liverpool’s interest in the Frenchman is tied to the uncertain future of Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract also runs out in 2026.

Interestingly, Bayern were linked with Konaté before his move from RB Leipzig to Anfield in 2021, leading to speculation that a potential transfer swap could materialise down the line.

For now, Bayern remain confident they can convince Upamecano to stay, but with major European clubs lining up, the negotiations are expected to be anything but straightforward.
