Bayern Munich are pushing ahead with plans to extend Dayot Upamecano’s contract until 2030 and are optimistic a full agreement will soon be in place.
Reporter Nicolo Schira says the German champions have made the renewal a clear priority as they look to preserve stability at the back and keep one of Europe’s leading central defenders at the club.
Since joining Bayern, Upamecano has grown into a key figure in their defensive line, earning praise for his speed, reading of the game and composure in playing out from the back. The hierarchy are reportedly satisfied with how negotiations are progressing and expect to finalise the new deal in the near future.
Tying the Frenchman down for another four years would give Bayern important continuity in a crucial position and reduce the need for expensive replacements further down the line.
It also allows the club to keep building their defence around a player still entering his peak years, a move widely viewed by fans and pundits as a major plus for Bayern’s long-term planning.
