Bayern Munich monitor Manuel Neuer after training injury scare

Manuel Neuer’s fitness is being monitored by Bayern Munich after the veteran goalkeeper required treatment for a shoulder problem during training.

The club captain was attended to during a cooling break after reportedly making several circular movements with his arms in an effort to loosen the affected shoulder. He was subsequently treated while lying on the ground, prompting concern about whether he would be available for Bayern’s next Bundesliga fixture.

The early indications, however, were encouraging. Neuer returned to the session after receiving treatment and completed training without any obvious difficulty. Bayern will now continue to assess the shoulder over the coming days before deciding whether he can work without restrictions.

The incident comes at an important point for the club, with Neuer expected to remain Bayern’s first-choice goalkeeper at the start of the new campaign. The 40-year-old has also confirmed that the forthcoming season is expected to be his final one as a professional footballer.

Any problem affecting Neuer would therefore be a concern for Bayern, particularly with their next league match approaching. The German side are due to face VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena on Friday, and the club will hope the training-ground incident proves to be no more than a minor scare.

Neuer’s return to the session provided an immediate positive sign, but Bayern are expected to keep a close watch on his condition before the match. The goalkeeper’s ability to train normally in the days ahead will help determine whether the shoulder issue has any effect on his preparations.

For now, there has been no indication that Neuer has been ruled out. His treatment during training raised questions over his readiness, but completing the session afterwards offered Bayern some reassurance as they prepare for their next Bundesliga assignment.

The goalkeeper has been identified as the club’s senior first-choice option for the new campaign, while his decision that the season could be his last adds further significance to his involvement. Bayern will therefore be keen to avoid taking unnecessary risks with the shoulder while also assessing whether he is fit to face VfB Stuttgart.

The club’s immediate priority is to establish whether Neuer can continue training without limitations. If he does so, the initial concern may remain only a brief interruption to his preparations. If restrictions are required, Bayern will have to reassess his availability before the match at the Allianz Arena.

Neuer’s latest setback has not yet developed into a confirmed absence, but it has placed his fitness under scrutiny ahead of Friday’s fixture. Bayern will monitor the situation closely before making any decision on his involvement.
