Bayern Munich make progress in talks to extend Harry Kane’s contract

Bayern Munich have taken a significant step towards extending Harry Kane’s contract, with negotiations now focused on keeping the England captain at Allianz Arena beyond June 2027.

A new round of discussions was held at the end of last weekend, with Kane’s representatives attending talks over the proposed renewal.

The negotiations are understood to be moving towards a two-year extension at least, which would keep the 33-year-old at Bayern Munich until the summer of 2029. Kane is also open to committing to the club for longer, according to Foot Mercato.

Kane wants to remain at the highest level of European football through Euro 2028, while also keeping the 2030 World Cup among his future ambitions. Those objectives are understood to be central to his willingness to consider a longer stay in Germany.

Financial terms remain one of the main issues still being discussed. Kane currently earns about 25m euros a year, a figure he could retain if he signs a two-year extension.

A longer contract, however, could involve a reduction in his annual salary. The agreement could also include a release clause, although the details have not yet been settled.

Kane has been linked with interest from Real Madrid, as well as clubs in England and Saudi Arabia. Despite those reports, he has not held formal negotiations with any other party so far.

The striker has enjoyed an outstanding spell since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023. He has scored 150 goals and provided 34 assists in 153 appearances for the club in all competitions.

That tally includes 61 goals in the previous season alone, underlining Kane’s importance to the German side since his arrival.
