Bayern Munich make breakthrough in talks to extend Dayot Upamecano’s contract

German giants Bayern Munich are close to extending the contract of French defender of Guinean-Bissau descent, Dayot Upamecano.

According to Bayern Insider, both parties have agreed in principle on a new base salary that aligns closely with the 26-year-old centre-back’s current earnings.

However, discussions are not yet fully concluded, as Upamecano is said to be demanding a significant signing bonus similar to the one received by Alphonso Davies, reportedly around €17 million when he renewed his deal earlier this year.

Bayern’s hierarchy is reportedly hesitant to match that figure but remain optimistic as talks continue.

Meanwhile, interest in Upamecano is mounting across Europe. Liverpool, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United are all monitoring the situation closely and would be ready to move should the defender become available on a free transfer.

Heading into the winter transfer window, Bayern remain confident of securing Upamecano’s long-term future at the Allianz Arena.

Upamecano is in no hurry to leave and is open to staying in Germany.
