Bayern Munich in contact with Dutch-Togolese attacker Cody Gakpo as interest intensifies

German giants Bayern Munich are still interested in signing Dutch forward of Togolese descent Cody Gakpo.

The Bundesliga champions want to sign the Liverpool winger as part of efforts to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 football season.

Bayern Munich acknowledge that the club could lose the services of winger Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane this summer.

While Coman is likely to stay, Sane’s situation is shaky. The German-Senegalese forward has been offered a contract extension deal by Bayern Munich, but has refused to sign.

It is understood that his representatives want more money for him, and Bayern officials are not ready to increase the financial benefits of the offer on the table.

As a result, he has been offered to English Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

If these clubs can meet his demands, Sane is sure to leave Bayern Munich this summer.

Should he leave, Bayern Munich want to augment their squad with the acquisition of Cody Gakpo.

Club official Max Eberl is said to be in direct contact with Gakpo, but no formal contact with Liverpool has been made.
