FC Bayern Munich could reportedly remain in the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande despite earlier suggestions that the Bundesliga giants had withdrawn from the chase.

According to transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Bayern’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements following Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona could reopen the door for a possible approach for the highly rated 19-year-old.

Speaking to Liverpool fan platform “Born ‘n Red,” Jacobs explained that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are currently leading the race for the Ivorian attacker, but Bayern should not be completely ruled out.

“We have to keep a small eye on FC Bayern because Bayern’s focus was on Anthony Gordon, and Gordon has moved to FC Barcelona. So Bayern are still looking for someone,” Jacobs stated.

One of the key factors in the transfer battle appears to be how each club plans to use Diomande. Bayern reportedly see the youngster as an option on the left wing, while Liverpool and PSG are prepared to deploy him primarily on the right side of attack.

According to Jacobs, the player himself prefers operating on the right flank, which currently gives Liverpool and PSG a significant advantage in negotiations.

“Liverpool and PSG see him more on the right wing. And the player much prefers playing on the right wing. So Liverpool and PSG are the favourites,” he added.

The financial aspect of the deal could also prove decisive. Reports suggest RB Leipzig are only prepared to negotiate if an offer in the region of €100 million arrives for the talented forward.

Such a figure would represent a major challenge for Bayern Munich, who have only crossed the €100 million mark once in their history when they signed Harry Kane in 2023.

While Bayern continue searching for attacking additions ahead of the new season, Diomande’s preferred position and hefty valuation appear to place Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain firmly at the front of the queue for his signature.
