Bayern Munich considering move to sign French-Angolan defender Castello Lukeba
German giants Bayern Munich are considering a January move to sign France-born defender of Angolan descent, Castello Lukeba.
According to English portal TEAMtalk, the German giants are monitoring a potential January transfer alongside Chelsea, though a move during the winter window is viewed as complicated.
Lukeba, a regular starter for Leipzig, is under contract until 2029, and there is no release clause in his deal. Any potential transfer fee would need to be negotiated, and Leipzig are unlikely to part with a key defender mid-season.
At the same time, Bayern officials have stressed that extending Dayot Upamecano’s contract remains a priority, with no immediate plans for winter signings.
Despite the short-term hurdles, Lukeba is considered a long-term target for Bayern.
Transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri reports that the Frenchman is open to a move to Munich, and Sky notes that he could be an option should Upamecano decide against renewing his contract.
