German outfit Bayern Munich are leading the race to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
According to sources, the Bundesliga Champions have submitted an official bid to Atalanta to secure the services of the talented attacker.
It is understood that Bayern Munich are offering Atalanta a high-interest loan deal with a substantial upfront fee and a purchase option at a very high price.
However, the exact figures of the proposed bid have not yet been revealed.
The 27-year-old has been a standout performer since joining Atalanta in 2022, delivering 17 goals and 10 assists in the 2023/24 season and following it up with 20 goals and seven assists last season.
His crowning moment came in the 2024 Europa League final, where his hat-trick secured a historic 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, ending their 51-match unbeaten streak and earning Atalanta their first European title.
Despite his success, Lookman’s relationship with the Bergamo club has soured after former manager Gian Piero Gasperini publicly criticised him for a missed penalty against Club Brugge earlier this year.
With Bayern’s interest now formalised, the Nigerian international is reportedly open to a move as he looks to take the next step in his career.
The potential move will become clearer in the next 12 hours.
