German club Bayer Leverkusen are confident that they will complete the signing of England-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Jarell Quansah, next week.
Sources have confirmed that the centre-back will undergo a medical examination on Monday, June 30, before sealing his transfer to the Bundesliga side.
The 22-year-old Liverpool defender is expected to become the most expensive signing in the German club’s history, with a fee of around €35 million plus up to €6 million in performance-based bonuses.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool have inserted a buy-back clause into the deal.
The Merseyside club can reportedly bring Quansah back for at least €70 million, with that figure potentially rising to €82 million depending on conditions attached to the agreement.
Quansah’s development under Liverpool manager Arne Slot last season saw him rise quickly into the first-team picture.
In the campaign where he enjoyed more minutes than the previous season, he impressed with his strength, composure, and ball-playing ability.
His move to Leverkusen under manager Erik ten Hag offers the defender the chance to grow further in the Bundesliga and European competitions.
