German outfit Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement to sign Dutch-born forward of Ghanaian descent Ernest Poku from AZ Alkmaar this summer.
According to Sky, the transfer is complete, with the 21-year-old winger expected to travel to Germany in the coming days for his medical.
Once completed, Poku will sign a long-term contract keeping him at the BayArena until 2030. Widely regarded as one of the Netherlands’ most exciting young attacking talents, he brings blistering pace, sharp dribbling skills, and a consistent goal threat.
The signing was made possible through the efforts of sporting director Simon Rolfes and squad planner Kim Falkenberg, both instrumental in securing the deal.
While financial details remain undisclosed, the acquisition signals Leverkusen’s continued ambition to remain dominant in the Bundesliga and make a strong push in the Champions League.
Poku’s arrival comes just before Leverkusen’s upcoming DFB Cup clash against Großaspach.
The youngster will be playing a key role for Erik ten Hag’s side in the upcoming season.
