Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly shown interest in acquiring Mikayil Faye, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The potential move hinges on the response from Faye’s current club, Rennes, regarding his availability for transfer.
Faye, a Senegalese international, previously spent time at Barcelona, where he was part of the club from 2023 to 2024, playing with their reserve team, Barca Atletic.
He made a move to Rennes for a fee of €10.3 million and has since made ten appearances for the French side.
Notably, Barcelona retains a €25 million buy-back clause for Faye, as well as a 30% share of any future transfer fee from a sale.
This clause could complicate any potential negotiations, depending on how Rennes views the situation and whether they are open to selling the promising young talent.
As Leverkusen explore options to strengthen their squad, Faye’s performances in Ligue 1 will likely influence the decisions of both Rennes and Barcelona, determining the next steps for the player’s career.
