Michy Batshuayi Embraces Competition at Marseille
Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi has made a cautious start to life at Olympique de Marseille, featuring in bits and pieces across the opening fixtures of the Ligue 1 season.
Since joining the French club during the summer transfer window, the Belgium Under-21 international has appeared in four of Marseille’s first four matches, often coming off the bench. Batshuayi finds himself competing for a starting spot with established striker André-Pierre Gignac, a challenge he expected upon his arrival.
“When I went to Marseille, I expected it,” Batshuayi told La Dernière Heure. “It’s a bigger club and not just any competition. Gignac is a world-class striker.”
Despite limited minutes so far, the young forward remains focused and motivated, aiming to make his mark at the Stade Vélodrome and gradually earn more playing time in a team with high ambitions.
