Batista Mendy in frame for Celta Vigo switch from Trabzonspor

French-Guinea-Bissauan midfielder Batista Mendy is the subject of a reported move from Trabzonspor to Celta de Vigo, with the Spanish club linked with a transfer to La Liga.

Mendy, 26, is under contract with Trabzonspor until 30 June 2027 and returned to the Turkish club this summer after spending last season on loan at Sevilla. The move to Spain would represent a return to La Liga after his campaign with Sevilla, although he has yet to feature for Trabzonspor this season.

The defensive midfielder has not made an appearance in either of Trabzonspor’s two Super Lig matches or their two Europa League qualifying fixtures in the current campaign. He joined Trabzonspor from Angers in September 2023 for a reported €4.4m.

Mendy began his senior career with Nantes before moving to Angers in 2021, and has spent the majority of his professional career in France and Turkey. His current market value is listed at €7.5m.

Celta finished last season in La Liga and are now being linked with Mendy as the transfer window approaches its conclusion. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the midfielder remains a Trabzonspor player with two years left on his contract.
