Basilio Ndong: Left-back linked with move to Albanian side KF Tirana

Equatorial Guinea left-back Basilio Ndong has completed a move to Albanian champions KF Tirana on a free transfer after a spell without a club, signing a contract running from 29/11/2025 to 29/11/2027.

The 26-year-old defender arrives in the Kategoria Superiore with a current market value listed at €350,000 and becomes Tirana’s latest addition as they strengthen their squad with international experience and versatility down the left flank. Having been unattached since leaving Romanian side CS Universitatea Craiova earlier in the 2025/26 campaign, Ndong joins the capital club without a transfer fee after his status as a free agent.

Ndong most recently played in Romania’s top flight for Universitatea Craiova, having joined them from Norwegian side IK Start in January 2023. Before that move to Liga I, he gained experience across several European leagues, featuring in Norway with Start, in Belgium with KVC Westerlo and in North Macedonia with FC Shkupi, following his first move from Equatorial Guinean club Cano Sport. His career path means KF Tirana are acquiring a defender with established knowledge of different tactical systems and competitive environments.

Primarily a left-back, Ndong is listed as a defender who operates on the left side and is naturally left-footed. Born in Mbini and standing at 1.73m, he has built a reputation as an energetic wide defender, with his earlier market valuations peaking at €600,000 during his time at Universitatea Craiova before later stabilising. The latest valuation of €350,000 reflects his recent spell without a club, from which KF Tirana have moved to capitalise at no transfer cost.

The move extends Ndong’s long-running career abroad rather than a return to domestic football in Equatorial Guinea. Having already played in North Macedonia, Belgium, Norway and Romania, he now adds Albania’s Kategoria Superiore to his list of leagues, further consolidating his profile as an Equatorial Guinean export in European football. For Tirana, his signing brings a player accustomed to both title-chasing environments and relegation battles across different divisions.

Ndong’s transfer history shows a series of permanent moves and a loan spell between Westerlo and Start, underlining how regularly he has been considered a viable option in various squads. From his early valuation of €100,000 at Shkupi to his rise through Belgium and Norway and eventual switch to Romania, his career has tracked a steady progression through Europe’s mid-tier competitions, now continuing in Albania.

With his contract at KF Tirana now in place from 29/11/2025 to 29/11/2027, the Equatorial Guinea defender is set to compete in the Kategoria Superiore and potentially continental qualifiers, aiming to re-establish and possibly enhance his market value while adding further international experience to an already well-travelled career.
