The Chinese Football Federation has taken strict measures to combat the issue of rigged betting in football. 33 managers or players have been banned from officiating in football. Former presidents Nan Yong and Xie Yalong, who were already imprisoned for accepting bribes, were among those sanctioned. Additionally, the president of Dalian Aerbin, Xu Hong, and two well-known clubs, Tianjin Teda and Shanghai Shenhua, faced fines and point deductions for the next season. The sanctions were a response to suspicions of match-fixing during the 2003 season.
