Basel eye Valencia teenager David Otorbi in cut-price winger move

Spanish-Nigerian right winger David Otorbi of Valencia B is being linked with a summer switch to Swiss Super League side Basel.

The 18-year-old, who represents Valencia Mestalla and is listed as playing in Spain’s Segunda Federación Group III, is understood to be on Basel’s radar as they assess wide attacking options for next season. Data from Transfermarkt places his market value at €500,000, a figure that could make him an appealing, low-risk investment for the Swiss club.

Otorbi, born in Valencia on 16 October 2007 and standing at 1.80m, is a right‑footed attacker whose main position is on the right wing. He wears the No 22 shirt for Valencia B and holds dual nationality with Spain and Nigeria. His current deal has no publicly listed expiry date, raising the prospect that he could either negotiate improved terms in Spain or run down his agreement and become a free agent further down the line.

The latest speculation, logged on 5 June 2026 with the probability of a move still marked as “?”, suggests talks are at an exploratory stage rather than an advanced negotiation. No transfer fee or contract length has been reported, and there is no indication yet of whether Basel would push for an immediate permanent deal or monitor his situation in case of a contract lapse.

Otorbi has been part of Valencia’s development structure rather than moving between multiple clubs, meaning a switch to Basel would represent his first step outside Spain and his first taste of top-flight football in a foreign league. If the transfer materialises, the Super League could offer the teenager a significant platform to accelerate his progress and build his reputation on the European stage.
