Barcelona’s players have taken lessons from their defeat by Paris Saint-Germain, with Raphinha and Rodri stressing the importance of concentration and decision-making in major matches.

Despite the setback, optimism remains strong within the squad. The team continues to believe it can compete for every trophy this season, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, which has reported on the reaction inside the Barcelona dressing room.

Barcelona had produced an impressive run of high-scoring performances before facing Paris Saint-Germain. Their form and football had made them appear difficult to stop, but the players recognised that the meeting with the French side would provide their first major test of the season.

Although Barcelona lost the match, the mood within the club remains positive in several respects. The players have focused on what can be learned from the performance rather than allowing the result to affect their confidence.

After the final whistle, Raphinha addressed his team-mates and encouraged them to examine the defeat carefully, with the aim of identifying the lessons it offered. Rodri then spoke to the squad, making the point that if mistakes have to be made, it is better for them to happen at this stage of the campaign, when there is still time to learn from them.

Rodri, the Spanish Ballon d’Or winner and the club’s major signing this season, placed particular emphasis on the need to remain focused throughout every moment of a match. He also underlined the importance of making the correct decision in each situation, especially when facing the best teams in the world.

Those views are shared by head coach Hansi Flick and Barcelona’s more experienced players. Their assessment is that the team’s defeat was caused by poor handling of certain situations and by failing to make the right choices at decisive moments.

The dressing-room atmosphere is nevertheless described as positive, with the squad appearing more united than before. Barcelona’s players remain confident in their ability to challenge for every available honour, provided they avoid repeating the limited but costly errors made against Paris Saint-Germain.

The defeat has therefore been treated as an early warning rather than a sign that Barcelona’s ambitions have changed. The lessons from the match, particularly those highlighted by Raphinha and Rodri, are now being viewed as important preparation for the demanding games still to come.
