Barcelona tracking Real Betis prospect Jean Emmanuel N’Goran as European interest grows

At 19, Jean Emmanuel N’Goran is attracting attention well beyond Seville, with FC Barcelona monitoring the Real Betis centre-back alongside Rayo Vallecano and several Premier League clubs.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona scouts were present in Badajoz last Sunday to watch the Ivory Coast defender. The Catalan club also tried to sign N’Goran for its reserve team in August, but the move was not completed.

The latest scouting visit underlines Barcelona’s interest in a player whose progress has been followed by the club for several months. N’Goran is regarded as one of the leading prospects to have emerged from the Real Betis academy.

The defender is set to train with the first team during the current break, giving him an opportunity to take another step in his development and move closer to senior football.

N’Goran joined the Andalusian club in January 2025 from Ghanaian academy Young African Promises. He quickly established himself as one of the young players attracting attention within the Seville-based setup.

Real Betis moved to protect its investment in the defender in March by extending his contract until 2030. That agreement gives the club control over his future as interest from clubs in Spain and elsewhere in Europe begins to increase.

Barcelona, Rayo Vallecano and a number of Premier League sides are now monitoring the Ivory Coast international prospect, whose reputation has continued to grow since his arrival in Spain.

His sessions with the Real Betis first team could provide another opportunity to demonstrate the qualities that have made him a player of interest to leading clubs. Real Betis will soon face Osasuna in their eighth match of the Spanish league season.
