Barcelona to host Manchester City as Paris Saint-Germain await in Champions League

Barcelona will face Manchester City at home and travel to Paris Saint-Germain in two of the standout fixtures from their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league-phase draw.

The Spanish side were paired with eight different opponents, playing four matches at home and four away under the competition’s revised format. Their other fixtures are against Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Feyenoord, Galatasaray, Como and Sabah.

Barcelona’s league-phase schedule is:

The meetings with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain represent Barcelona’s most demanding assignments in the opening phase. Both clubs are from Pot 1, while the matches against Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Feyenoord and Galatasaray also provide significant tests.

Barcelona will, however, benefit from hosting four of their eight opponents. Their home fixtures include Manchester City, Aston Villa, Feyenoord and Como, while they must travel to Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting CP, Galatasaray and Sabah.

The draw was conducted under the new Champions League format, which features a single 36-team league phase instead of the previous group-stage system. Each club plays eight matches against eight different opponents, facing two teams from each draw pot, with one home game and one away game against opponents from each pot.

The eight teams finishing at the top of the league table will progress directly to the last 16. Clubs placed ninth to 24th will enter a two-legged play-off, with the winners claiming the remaining places in the last 16.

Teams finishing from 25th to 36th will be eliminated from the competition.

The league phase is scheduled to begin on 8 September 2026, with the final round of matches taking place on 27 January 2027. The Champions League final will be played on 5 June 2027 in Madrid, the Spanish capital.

Barcelona’s draw therefore combines two high-profile encounters with a mixture of difficult domestic and European opposition. Manchester City’s visit will be one of the headline home games of the league phase, while the trip to Paris Saint-Germain is likely to be among the most challenging away assignments.

The fixtures against Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Feyenoord and Galatasaray add further quality to Barcelona’s schedule, while the meetings with Como and Sabah complete an eight-match programme that offers no repeat opponents.
