Barcelona ‘terrifying’ but Sevilla must dream of competing, says Luis Garcia

Sevilla manager Luis Garcia says his side must “dream” of challenging Barcelona when the two teams meet in La Liga on Saturday, despite acknowledging that the leaders are performing at a level far beyond their rivals.

Sevilla host Barcelona at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the seventh round of the Spanish top flight, with the visitors having won all six of their matches so far this season.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference, Garcia referred to comments made recently by Como manager Cesc Fabregas about Barcelona’s attacking threat.

“I will tell you a phrase that the great manager Cesc Fabregas, the manager of Como, said recently about Barcelona,” Garcia said.

“He said they are terrifying, genuinely terrifying, because they score four or five goals in a match.”

Garcia insists Sevilla will not approach the game without ambition, even though he believes Barcelona have moved to another level compared with previous seasons.

“We will try to compete with them, so why not?” he added. “We have to dream, but we must recognise that they are currently performing at a completely different level.”

He repeated his assessment of Barcelona’s progress, saying: “We have to acknowledge that Barcelona’s level at the moment is completely different from previous seasons and they are producing excellent performances.”

Barcelona sit top of the La Liga table on 18 points after recording six victories from six matches.

Sevilla are fifth with 13 points, having won four games, drawn one and lost one.
