Barcelona targets Ghana’s Thomas Partey as Frenkie de Jong’s replacement

Mikel Arteta Thomas Partey Scores

Barcelona have targeted Ghana international Thomas Partey as a replacement for Dutchman Frenkie de Jong.

Partey’s current deal expires at the end of the season, making him eligible to negotiate with other clubs from January 1, 2025.

Arsenal have yet to finalize a new deal with the highly-rated Ghanaians midfielder despite his impactful performance this season.

Reports emerging from Spain suggests that Barcelona have rekindle their interest in the Ghanaian midfielder and are willing to snap him up in the summer as a free agent.

The Spanish outfit appears to have lost faith in Dutchman Frenkie de Jong and will prioritize his sale in the summer in an attempt to sign Partey.

Noted for his power, range and versatility, Barcelona sees Partey as a perfect fit for the club.

Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 after the club triggered his £45 million release clause at Atletico Madrid. Since then, he has been a crucial component of Mikel Arteta’s midfield, making 137 appearances, scoring seven goals, and providing five assists.
