Barcelona target first away win in Galatasaray clash as black-and-purple kit returns

Barcelona will travel to Galatasaray on Tuesday seeking their first away victory in the Champions League this season, with the Catalan club set to wear their new second kit in Istanbul.

Barcelona began their campaign with a 5-1 win over Feyenoord and will now face Galatasaray at 21:00 Spanish time. The match comes after an 3-0 victory against Getafe, Barcelona’s eighth win in the league.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona held a recovery session on Sunday following the win over Getafe, before beginning preparations for their return to European competition.

The squad will leave the Joan Gamper Sports City in Sant Joan Despi at 08:40 on Tuesday and travel to El Prat Airport. Their private flight to Turkey is scheduled to depart at 09:40 and arrive in Istanbul at 14:20 local time.

The journey will take three hours and 40 minutes. Istanbul is one hour behind Spain.

Barcelona will be without injured players Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji for the trip.

Head coach Hans-Dieter Flick and defender Pau Cubarsi will hold Barcelona’s official press conference at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium at 16:45 Spanish time. Cubarsi has been selected to speak to local media and journalists travelling from Catalonia.

The Barcelona players will then train at the match venue from 17:30 Spanish time as they complete their final preparations for the Turkish side.

Galatasaray lead Turkish league

Galatasaray go into the match as leaders of the Turkish league after beating Kasımpasa 3-1 on Friday.

Their manager Okan Buruk will hold a press conference at 12:00 Spanish time, alongside a Galatasaray player whose identity has not yet been confirmed. The club’s training session will take place one hour later at their training ground.

Barcelona will wear their second strip for the current season. The design fades from black into purple, with purple also used on the shorts.

The kit is the second release produced through the partnership between Nike, the Kobe Bryant brand and the Catalan club.

Barcelona have worn the strip only once this season. That appearance came in their opening La Liga match, when they beat Elche 5-0.
