Barcelona have firmly turned down an offer from Chelsea that included Christopher Nkunku in a proposed swap deal for rising midfield star Fermin Lopez.
The La Liga giants received a €70 million package from Chelsea, which featured the 27-year-old French attacker, but swiftly rejected the offer, according to Mundo Deportivo. Despite Nkunku’s 14 goals and five assists across 42 matches, he isn’t seen as a key target for Barcelona.
Fermin, 22, has become a crucial part of Hansi Flick’s plans after a breakout season with eight goals and nine assists in 46 appearances. Despite competing with a lot of top players for game time Lopez has still carved out a place in the starting eleven.
Club president Joan Laporta and coach Flick consider Fermin untouchable and view him as central to their future. A move would only be possible if the player himself asked to leave.
Fermin wants regular minutes ahead of the 2026 World Cup, but for now, he remains committed to fighting for his role, even as speculation continues throughout the transfer window.
