Barcelona set to announce Karim Adeyemi signing from Borussia Dortmund
Barcelona are expected to officially announce the signing of Germany international of Nigerian descent, Karim Adeyemi, from Borussia Dortmund after reaching an agreement for the forward, according to reports in Spain.
The long-running transfer saga involving the 24-year-old is now close to reaching its conclusion, with the Catalan giants preparing to confirm the deal in the coming days.
World Cup final delays official announcement
According to Spanish publication Diario Sport, Barcelona could announce Adeyemi’s arrival on Tuesday or Wednesday after completing the final stages of the transfer process.
The announcement was reportedly delayed due to a logistical issue rather than any problem with the agreement.
Adeyemi had already travelled to Barcelona last week, where he successfully completed his medical examinations ahead of the move.
However, the final contract signing could not take place because Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco were in the United States attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
Barcelona agree €31m package
Following the return of the club’s senior officials to Spain, the transfer is expected to be confirmed soon.
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly agreed on a deal worth an initial €22 million, with an additional €9 million available through performance-related bonuses, taking the total value of the transfer to €31 million.
Fresh attacking option for Spanish champions
The move will see Adeyemi join the reigning Spanish champions as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
The German forward arrives after establishing himself as one of Borussia Dortmund’s key attacking players, bringing pace and versatility to Barcelona’s frontline.
For African football supporters, the transfer also highlights the continued global rise of players with African heritage, with Adeyemi’s career remaining closely followed across the continent.
