Barcelona are setting fresh ground in North Africa with a new official academy in Libya and a friendly match planned in Benghazi.
The club is taking bold steps to grow its brand and football culture in the region, confirming the move after a recent high-level meeting. President Joan Laporta held talks with Libya’s Minister of Investment, Ali Al Saidi, and Al Salihin Abdul Nabi from the House of Representatives to seal the deal.
As part of this expansion, Barcelona will establish an academy designed to nurture young Libyan talents. The announcement also includes plans to stage a friendly match in Benghazi, a city rich in history and passion for football.
This effort is part of the broader Barca Experience project in Libya, which now stands as one of the club’s three core regional outreach efforts.
