Spanish La Liga champions FC Barcelona have not given up on signing Ghana international Thomas Partey.
The club is still keeping tabs on the midfielder and wants to sign him on a free transfer this summer when his contract with Arsenal expires.
Thomas Partey, 31, will be out of contract at the end of June 2025. Although Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has openly declared his desire for the Black Stars midfield enforcer to stay, talk of a contract extension deal has been very slow.
As a result, sources have revealed that there is still a chance for Thomas Partey to leave Arsenal this summer.
English portals have reported today that Barcelona are still interested in signing Thomas Partey and will swoop in when his contract with Arsenal expires if the Gunners are unable to extend his deal.
Barcelona are not in the best financial position, and believes securing Partey on a free transfer will be good business.
For Partey, who turns 32 this month, this could be his last chance at a big move in his career.
Sources close to the player have indicated that he fancies the move to FC Barcelona and will be tempted to return to Spain, although his family (fiancé and daughter) are in England.
The future of the Ghanaian will become clearer at the end of June.
