Barcelona name Egypt international Hamza Abdelkarim in Champions League squad for 2026-27

Barcelona have included Egypt international Hamza Abdelkarim in their squad for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League, with the young forward among Hansi Flick’s selections for the European campaign.

UEFA has published Barcelona’s registered squad, which also includes another promising young player, Jesse Bissio. Abdelkarim is listed alongside Barcelona’s senior attacking options as the club begin their pursuit of a sixth European title.

Barcelona will face eight different opponents in the Champions League league phase. Their schedule includes four matches at Camp Nou and four away from home.

Abdelkarim’s inclusion places him at the head of the young players highlighted in Barcelona’s European squad, while Bissio is also set to be part of the club’s Champions League group.

Barcelona have won the competition five times. Their most recent success came in 2015, and they are now seeking the sixth title that has eluded them since then.

The Catalan club’s league-phase programme contains a mixture of high-profile opponents and visits to different European venues. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Feyenoord, Galatasaray, Como and Sabah FC are the eight clubs standing between Barcelona and progress through the opening stage.

The four home matches will be played at Camp Nou against Manchester City, Aston Villa, Feyenoord and Como. Barcelona’s away assignments will take them to Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting CP, Galatasaray and Sabah FC.

Their opening match against Feyenoord will therefore be the first opportunity for Abdelkarim and the rest of the squad to make an impact in this season’s European competition.
