Spanish giants FC Barcelona are still leading the race to sign youngster Nico Williams.
However, the La Liga champions must offload players this summer to be in the right financial position to make the deal happen.
Nico Williams, 22, is one of the most sought-after players in Europe this summer, with a lot of European clubs hoping to secure his services.
Among the interested clubs, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have reportedly already made formal approaches and had engagements with his representatives.
Despite their interests, Nico Williams himself fancies a move to FC Barcelona this summer if he is to leave Athletic Club.
According to The Athletic, securing Williams’ signature presents a significant financial challenge for Barcelona.
The club would need to sell multiple players from the current squad before they can afford to bring in a player of Williams’ quality.
During the 2024/25 season, Nico Williams impressed for Athletic Bilbao, making 45 appearances across all competitions.
He scored eleven goals and provided seven assists during that campaign.
