Al Ahly is close to accepting Barcelona’s latest offer for teenage striker Hamza Abdelkarim, after intensive negotiations between the Egyptian giants and the Spanish club over a January move.
The deal gained momentum when Barca increased Al Ahly’s sell-on clause from 10% to 15%, and the Catalan club is now waiting for an official response from the Red Devils.
According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Al Ahly’s planning committee, led by president Mahmoud El Khatib, will meet within hours, with a strong expectation that the latest proposal will be approved. Within Barcelona, there is a strong sense of optimism that this will be the decisive offer to secure what they see as a highly promising transfer.
Abdelkarim turns 18 on January 1, which will allow him to sign his first professional contract with Barca if the agreement is finalized. Barcelona plans for him to strengthen the attack of Barcelona Atletic, especially after long-term injuries to forwards Víctor Barberà and Óscar Gistau. The left-footed center forward rose to prominence with Egypt’s youth national team at the Under-17 World Cup, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
Recently, Abdelkarim was forced off in Al Ahly’s last match against Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the Egypt Capital Cup after suffering a heavy knock and ankle swelling following an in-game collision.
Despite that setback, his move to Europe now looks closer than ever, with both clubs seemingly aligned on the key terms of the transfer.
