Barcelona move for Jesse Bisiwu gathers pace
Barcelona have reportedly submitted a formal offer for highly rated Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu and are now waiting on Club Brugge’s response.
The 18-year-old is viewed as a top prospect inside Barça’s sporting department, which has been monitoring him closely for months.
Bisiwu is under contract with Brugge until 2027, but Barcelona believe a deal is possible after opening negotiations through his representatives.
The youngster is said to be keen on joining the Catalan giants from next season, which could help push the move forward. The idea at Camp Nou is to mirror last summer’s Roony Bardghji transfer, paying a relatively modest fee and initially registering Bisiwu with the reserve side before easing him into the first team.
Sporting director Deco and scouting chief João Amaral reportedly travelled to Belgium in January to start talks with Brugge sporting director Devy Rigaux.
Barcelona also sent a scout to watch Bisiwu during the UEFA Youth League final four in Lausanne, underlining how serious they are about securing his signature. Although Brugge were initially reluctant to sell, the player’s contract situation and desire to move to Barcelona could eventually tip the balance, with the Spanish club now awaiting a final answer to their proposal.
