Barcelona are keeping track of Harry Kane’s contract negotiations with Bayern Munich, although there is a strong expectation that the England striker will agree a new deal with the German club.
Kane’s current contract at Bayern Munich runs until 2027, with the player presently discussing an extension with the club. He has also made clear that he is enjoying his life in Germany and sees no current reason to leave, as he wants to continue competing for more trophies.
According to TalkSport, Barcelona remain interested in developments despite the belief that Kane is likely to stay at Bayern Munich. An agreement between the striker and the Bundesliga club is expected to be reached in the coming period.
Barcelona view Kane as an alternative to Julian Alvarez. The possibility of signing the England international could appeal to the Catalan club, particularly if they fail to reach an agreement with Bayern over a renewal. However, Bayern Munich are expected to do everything possible to retain their leading forward for at least several more years.
Barcelona’s attacking options
Barcelona are top of La Liga with 15 points from five matches and have scored 21 goals in the competition so far.
The club were strongly linked with Julian Alvarez during the summer transfer window, but Atletico Madrid refused to sell the Argentina international to a direct rival.
Barcelona have considerable flexibility in attack, although Hansi Flick lacks a recognised centre-forward following Robert Lewandowski’s departure at the end of his contract.
Kane has established himself as one of Bayern Munich’s leading players since joining from Tottenham in the summer of 2023. He has scored 150 goals and provided 34 assists in only 150 appearances for the club.
The striker scored 61 goals for Bayern Munich last season.
