Spanish giants FC Barcelona have turned their attention to Egypt forward Mohamed Salah as the player approaches the final months of his contract at Liverpool.
The two-time African Footballer of the Year’s deal expires at the end of the current season, and he has disclosed that the Reds have not yet presented him with a renewal offer.
“I’m probably more outside than inside,” Salah stated on Sunday after scoring a brace against Southampton in a 3-2 win, expressing his uncertainty regarding his future with the club.
The 32-year-old’s comments have ignited speculation across Europe, with Barcelona emerging as a strong contender for his signature.
The Catalan club had previously expressed interest in Salah during Xavi’s time as manager. However, negotiations for a contract extension between Salah and Liverpool stalled, preventing Barcelona from making any significant moves at that time.
With Salah’s current contract situation, Barcelona now finds itself in a favorable position to pursue a deal.
The prospect of signing Salah on a free transfer appeals to the club, as it would allow them to bolster their squad without incurring a hefty transfer fee.
