Barcelona look to pull off major transfer coup with stellar move for English-Ivorian star Marc Guehi
Barcelona are seeking to secure the services of England international of Ivory Coast descent, Marc Guehi at the expense of Liverpool.
Guehi, who is the captain of Crystal Palace came close to joining Liverpool on summer transfer deadline day, but the deal fell through.
The rock-solid defender is expected to be at a transfer bidding war next summer, with his current contract expiring in June 2026.
According to reports, Barcelona have reached out to Marc Guehi’s representatives twice in the past two weeks, making an official offer for the defender.
The Spanish giants is well aware of Liverpool’s intention to sign Guehi next summer, stepping up their interest for the acquisition of the defender.
Barcelona are moving proactively and are ready to open preliminary talks with Guehi as early as January. Palace could lose their captain for free next summer, but Barcelona are willing to put €20 million on the table if Guehi signs with them this winter.
Guehi himself is thought to favor a move to Liverpool, but Barcelona are ramping up efforts to persuade the defender that La Liga is the ideal stage for the 25-year-old Englishman’s development.
This season, Guehi has featured in 22 matches for Palace, netting 1 goal and providing 4 assists.
