Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on Cameroonian forward Karl Etta Eyong during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the striker remaining firmly on the club’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to a source, the Blaugrana are using the tournament to assess Eyong in his first major international competition. The 22-year-old has already made a strong impression, scoring on his debut to seal a deserved victory for Cameroon against Gabon.
Eyong has been on Barcelona’s watchlist for several months. The club explored a possible move earlier in the season but were held back by salary cap restrictions, which prevented the deal from being financially viable at the time. Since then, Eyong’s market value has risen, although Barcelona’s interest is said to be unchanged.
The striker’s rapid development has seen him emerge as one of Africa’s most exciting attacking prospects, with his goalscoring instinct drawing widespread attention.
His breakthrough displays in La Liga have further underlined his potential and strengthened his profile across Europe.
Currently on the books of Levante, Eyong is expected to be available on the market from June. Reports suggest his valuation was effectively set following Villarreal’s sale to Levante last summer, with both clubs open to a deal in the region of €15 million, despite a release clause that could rise to €30 million.
Eyong has also spoken openly about his admiration for Barcelona and his ambition to play for the club.
Last summer, he waited until the final stages of Barcelona’s interest before opting for Levante, choosing regular playing time in La Liga as a key step in his development.
