Barcelona impressed with Hamza Abdelkarim’s professionalism despite limited playing time

Barcelona are pleased with Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim’s professionalism and commitment despite his limited opportunities with the first team this season.

The young striker has reportedly earned the admiration of head coach Hansi Flick and his teammates through his attitude, discipline and willingness to work hard while waiting for more opportunities at the Catalan club.

According to reports, Abdelkarim has handled his current situation calmly, maintaining his commitment in training despite struggling to secure regular playing time amid strong competition for attacking positions.

The Egyptian forward impressed during Barcelona’s pre-season preparations, raising expectations that he could play a more prominent role in the first team during the current campaign.

His performances also strengthened the club’s confidence in his potential, with Barcelona extending his contract in September until the summer of 2030.

However, the start of the season has proved more challenging than anticipated, with Abdelkarim finding opportunities difficult to come by as he continues to compete for a place in Flick’s attacking setup.

The youngster has made just two appearances for Barcelona’s first team, alongside one outing for the reserve side, leaving him with limited opportunities to demonstrate his qualities in competitive matches.

Competition for attacking positions has further complicated his situation, with established attacking options ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite the limited involvement, Abdelkarim has reportedly avoided creating tension within the squad and has continued to approach his responsibilities with a positive attitude.

His willingness to accept different roles, including the possibility of moving between the senior team and Barcelona Atlètic, has also contributed to the favourable impression he has made on the coaching staff.

Rather than becoming frustrated by his lack of minutes, the Egyptian prospect has continued working to improve his game and prepare himself for the opportunity to establish a regular place in the team.

Barcelona’s appreciation of Abdelkarim reportedly extends beyond his technical qualities, with his discipline, personality and desire to learn viewed as important attributes for a young player seeking to succeed at a club of the Spanish giants’ stature.

For the Egyptian forward, the immediate challenge will be to turn that positive impression into more playing opportunities as the season progresses.

With his contract secured until 2030, Abdelkarim has time to continue his development and convince Flick that he deserves a greater role in Barcelona’s first-team plans.
